Small claims court is a division of the Quebec Court where the rules of practice are simplified. The law and the rules of practice enable a citizen and also companies to sue for any amount under seven thousand dollars (7,000$).

Before this division of the Court, citizens MUST represent themselves. There aren't any lawyers allowed except for a company, an association or a society. These can be represented by any full time employee and it may very well be a lawyer.

The maximum amount of your claim must be 7 000$, before interest. Caution ! Certain cases are excluded from the jurisdiction of Small Claims Court.
