This sector of law concerns the rules pertinent to the exercise of a given liberal profession by an individual. In the year 2006, in Quebec, there are 45 Professional Orders, one of them being the Bar Association for lawyers, the Medical College for doctors or the Chamber of Notaries for, you guessed it, notaries. But there are many regulated professional orders, such as architects, psychologists, veterinarians, etc. The Professional Code (R.S.Q. c. C-26) is the main law covering the professional world in Quebec. 25 laws complement this code and a multitude of regulations such as the law and regulations concerning the Bar Association (R.S.Q. c. B-1). The rules that professionals must follow try to ensure that the public gets quality services and is protected from abuse. The law provides inspection services, liability insurance, deontology, discipline, etc. We may assist citizens in filing a complain against a professional, or we may assist professionals who face disciplinary action before a disciplinary committee concerning an alleged infraction. We can do relevant research concerning a section of the Professional Code or concerning a specific professional law and provide you all the necessary legal information. |
